Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts – Otis Elevator Driver Board KDA26800ABS1/2/6/8: Setup, Tuning & Replacement Guide
Hidden inside every Otis Gen2-MO, Gen2-RO and HCA controller is a palm-sized powerhouse branded KDA26800ABS—available in four suffixes: ABS1, ABS2, ABS6 and ABS8. These 24 VDC IGBT driver boards convert low-level logic pulses into ±15 V gate signals that switch the main inverter, while simultaneously feeding back current, temperature and fault status over fibre-optic links. Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts has imported, burned-in and stocked brand-new, factory-calibrated KDA26800ABS boards since 2013, shipping over 5 000 units to 51 countries. Below we explain how to install, commission and—crucially—when to replace this “torque translator” before aged capacitors or a cracked opto-coupler shut the car down between floors.
-
Decoding the suffix KDA26800 = 3-phase IGBT driver core, 600 VDC bus, 25 A continuous, 50 A peak (1 ms)
ABS1 = standard brake IGBT + single fibre TX/RX
ABS2 = dual brake IGBT (redundant) + dual fibre
ABS6 = ABS1 + built-in current sensor (0–10 V)
ABS8 = ABS2 + dual sensor + reinforced isolation (4 kV)
All share the same 120 × 80 mm footprint, 20-way JST control header and common spare parts list. -
Safety first—lock-out & discharge The KDA sits on the hot side of the DC bus (540 V). Lock the main supply, hang a lock-out tag and wait 5 min for the bus to fall below 5 V. Use a CAT-III meter to confirm zero energy between DC+, DC– and PE before touching any screw.
-
Mechanical mounting—keep it cool The PCB snaps onto 35 mm DIN rail inside the controller. Maintain 50 mm clearance above and below; every 10 °C rise halves electrolytic life. If the cabinet is < 100 mm deep, mount vertically with DC terminals down—this allows convection chimney. Nanjing Zhuye supplies a free DIN clip (NY-CLIP-KDA) for panel-mount when rail space is tight.
-
Wiring map (print and stick inside door) DC+ / DC– – 6 mm², 1 050 V, 105 °C silicone wire, torque 2.0 N·m
U/V/W OUT – 6 mm² to IGBT module, same torque
J1 – 20-way logic, 5 V TTL, fibre TX/RX
J2 – Brake IGBT out, 24 V, 2 A fast-blow fuse
J3 – Current sensor out (ABS6/8 only), 0–10 V, 100 Ω load min
Fibre optic: HFBR-1521/2521 pair, 1 mm plastic, 5 MBd, 20 m max length -
Power-up & functional test Apply 24 V logic first, then DC bus. Green “DRV” LED should be steady; red “FLT” off. Measure gate signals with differential probe: +15 V on, –8 V off, rise time < 200 ns. If any gate < 12 V, IGBT will not saturate—replace board immediately.
-
Current calibration (ABS6/8 only) Run car at inspection speed, 50 % load. Multimeter on J3: output should be 5.0 V ±0.1 V. Adjust VR1 clockwise to increase gain; counter-clockwise to decrease. Record value in controller parameter I-GAIN; > 5 % error triggers “E-DRV”.
-
Temperature & lifetime model Electrolytic capacitors are the wear item: 105 °C, 3 000 h rated. At 55 °C Arrhenius predicts 24 000 h. Fibre optos MTBF 500 kh, but LED output drops 30 % at 100 kh. Translate to elevator duty: Light traffic (office, 8 h/day, 5 days/week) – 2 080 h/year → replace ≈ 11 years; inspect every 3 years. Medium traffic (mall, 12 h/day, 7 days/week) – 4 380 h/year → inspect every 2 years, replace ≈ 5 years. Heavy traffic (metro, 20 h/day) – 7 300 h/year → inspect every 12 months, replace ≈ 3 years.
-
Preventive inspection checklist Monthly: visual LED, listen for crackling (arcing IGBT). Quarterly: IR scan heat-sink; > 80 °C indicates aged capacitor or loose terminal. Annually: megger DC+ to PE > 100 MΩ; < 10 MΩ indicates carbon track. Bi-annually: torque test DC screws; vibration loosens them, causing arcing and fault F08.
-
Rapid swap (downtime < 8 min) a) Power down, lock-out, wait 5 min for bus < 5 V. b) Photograph J1-J3 and fibre orientation with phone. c) Remove DIN clip, slide old board out. d) Insert new Nanjing Zhuye KDA26800ABS, snap onto rail. e) Restore DC+, DC–, U/V/W, J1, J2, fibre (snap until click). f) Power up, verify green LED solid. g) Run inspection up/down, check current calibration (ABS6/8). h) Log serial number and date; return old unit for recycling.

Recycling & sustainability Nanjing Zhuye offers prepaid DHL labels inside every carton. Returned boards are stripped: aluminium heat-sink remelted, copper inductors smelted, IGBT modules recovered for silver and gold. One recycled driver saves 3.5 kg CO₂—enough to power the same elevator for two weeks.
By treating the KDA26800ABS as the torque translator of the elevator—not just another “driver board”—you eliminate mysterious IGBT faults, reduce surge-callouts and keep the elevator confidently moving. Specify Nanjing Zhuye genuine stock, follow the capacitor-life table above, and the only thing your controller will ever feel is clean, quiet, reliable power—trip after trip, storm after storm.
