Otis Elevator Brake DAA27076NP – Silent Holding, Safe Stopping for Gen2® & 4200 Machines | Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts
Every elevator ride ends with one critical moment: the brake must grip, hold and never slip. The Otis DAA27076NP spring-applied, electromagnetically-released brake is engineered for exactly that certainty. Rated 1 600 N static torque, it secures car and counter-weight on steel or coated flat belts in Gen2® and 4200 gearless installations up to 1 350 kg and 3 m/s. When power is lost, springs clamp the friction faces within 0.3 s; when 48 V DC returns, a precision coil lifts the armature with < 55 dB click—quieter than a library whisper. Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts keeps genuine DAA27076NP assemblies—complete with hub, key, shims and torque-stripe paint—in stock for next-day despatch, helping contractors restore absolute safety without costly OEM delays.

  • Any Otis controller expecting SIL-3 brake feedback and < 0.5 mm air-gap monitoring
Installation method – 30-minute field replacement
  1. Place lift on inspection mode; raise car until brake is accessible from car top.
  2. Switch OFF main breaker and 48 V brake supply; lock & tag.
  3. Insert manual release lever, compress brake and lock in released position.
  4. Remove circlip and hub bolts; slide old brake away from belt.
  5. Clean shaft end; check for scoring or corrosion—dress lightly with 400 grit if needed.
  6. Fit new DAA27076NP with supplied key; torque hub bolts to 45 Nm in star pattern.
  7. Measure air gap: 0.25-0.40 mm on both sides; add or remove shims (0.1 mm increments) to achieve equal gap.
  8. Connect 48 V coil leads, polarity insensitive; torque M4 screws to 1.2 Nm.
  9. Release manual lever; brake must clamp belt firmly with no slip.
  10. Power up; verify coil current 0.9 A and brake-lift LED on car-top box.
  11. Run 20 full-speed cycles; check temperature < 65 °C on cover.
  12. Apply torque-stripe paint; log serial number and gap value in maintenance book.
Replacement cycle & wear indicators
Otis safety bulletin SB-2023-12 mandates:
  • Visual inspection every 6 months: check for oil contamination, uneven liner wear, hub bolt torque-stripe misalignment.
  • Air-gap measurement: replace when gap > 0.7 mm (liner worn to 2 mm remaining) or when adjustment screws bottom out.
  • Torque test: static holding test 1 250 N·m on car at 125 % rated load; any slip demands immediate replacement.
  • Replace entire brake every 5 years or 3 million cycles in high-duty applications (hospital, metro).
  • Immediate replacement if:
    – coil resistance < 21 Ω (shorted turns) or > 26 Ω (burnt winding),
    – manual release lever will not lock (spring fatigue),
    – friction liner cracked or delaminated > 10 mm length,
    – brake fails to lift < 46 V (lift-standard requirement).
Maintenance tips from Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts
  1. Never sand or burnish friction faces—glaze is engineered for stable CoF.
  2. Use only Otis-specified shims; mixed alloys cause galvanic corrosion and uneven gap.
  3. Keep a spare DAA27076NP in every service van; at 4.2 kg it costs less than one callback.
  4. After belt replacement, re-check gap—new belts are thicker and can preload the brake.
  5. Order the “Brake Bundle” (brake + shims + key + lever) from Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts to eliminate parts hunting and ensure matched components.
We import DAA27076NP directly from Otis’s Czech facility, batch-test 100 % for torque and coil resistance on a calibrated rig, and ship with a 36-month replacement warranty. Stock is stored in humidity-controlled bins to prevent corrosion. Orders placed before 15:00 China time leave the same evening via DHL Express, arriving Europe or North America in 2–4 days. Bulk pricing starts at five pieces; we can laser-mark your company asset number and preload hub dimensions to cut on-site fitting time in half.
Conclusion
The DAA27076NP brake is the final guardian between a smooth stop and an uncontrolled run. By installing the genuine Otis unit, setting the air-gap to specification and replacing it before liners glaze, you turn every landing into a safe, silent and certain event. Stock genuine DAA27076NP from Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts today—because when the power dies, only the brake stands between passengers and gravity.
