Nanjing Zhuye Elevator Parts Presents: Otis HBP12 LOP Display Board – Usage & Replacement Guide
In the elevator world, even a flickering arrow can spark passenger panic. The Otis Hall Lantern Operating Panel (LOP) Display Board HBP12 is literally “the face” of your lift. With 15 years in Otis spares, Nanjing Zhuye explains how to run, maintain and replace HBP12 without emptying your wallet.
What HBP12 Does
Designed for Gen2®, Sky® and select 5200 models, HBP12 runs on 24 Vdc, talks RS485, and offers 96×16 dot-matrix bilingual scrolling. An ambient-light sensor dims brightness at night, cutting energy by 18 %. Every PCB is burn-in tested from –20 °C to 70 °C; MTBF = 50 000 h.

Installation in 3 Steps (tool-free)
-
Lock-out: switch off the 24 V breaker inside the LOP frame; verify zero voltage.
-
Record & remove: photograph connectors J1 (power), J2 (group), J3 (address); undo four anti-drop screws; pull the old board gently.
-
Plug & play: insert Nanjing Zhuye’s new HBP12, keep address DIP 001, power up, press TEST 3 s; watch “–1–2–3” = self-test OK. Done in 5 min by one tech.
Daily Care
• Quarterly: dust OLED with an ESD brush; never use alcohol wipes.
• Monthly: check MCU menu for FLASH erase cycles; >80 k means back-up fonts.
• Yearly: inspect door gasket; replace if compression <60 % to keep moisture out.

Replacement Cycle (data from 420 k lifts)
• High-rise metro / hospital (≥18 h/day): brightness falls to 70 % after 3.2 years → swap all every 3rd year to avoid spotty downtime.
• Office / hotel (8–12 h/day): first pixel column dies ~4.5 years → replace during annual inspection.
• Residential (≤6 h/day): still 80 % brightness at year 6; clean only every 24 months.
Ghost or burn-in? Change immediately—passengers may misread floor numbers.

FAQ
Q: Display shows “888” steady?
A: Address clash → re-DIP and check 120 Ω terminator.
Q: Screen flickers like a heartbeat?
A: 24 V ripple >100 mVpp → add 470 µF/50 V low-ESR capacitor.
Q: Can font color be changed to red?
A: OLED emitters are fixed; order red-filter version HBP12-R (MOQ 10).
